Club Night Results 9 JULY 2020

Good Turnout..

Cold night..

The heaters were on..

The drinks were in and the chips nice and hot..

Game on !

The eagerly contested qualifiers produced the usual bunch of the best of West City Club darters for the KO rounds.

There was the establishment and the resistance, the latter a group of players who are relatively new but consistently playing well and producing results. On opposite sides of the draw were the establishment, Mike Day and Frank Riddell, last weeks finalists. Would the resistance get the better of the establishment?

Or wait... was this starting to look like another MD v FR final?...Total Recall

The resistance fought hard and long.

On one half of the draw Harrison Donegan was dispatched by Mike Day but not without a fight. Patrick Shannon went toe to toe with Mike Day in the semi-final but lost out 2-3. Valiant effort. MD into the final

On the other half of the draw Frank Riddell saw off Dan King and then Tony Lee in the semi-final (mmm... Tony, establishment or resistance? Lets just call him an Inbetweener). FR into the final.

Damn, it was Total Recall. A Mike Day v Frank Riddell Final - Again.

But this left some important questions...

• Who was Douglas Quaid aka Arnie?
• Where was Lori Quaid, Douglas's blond bombshell wife, aka Sharon Stone?
• Where were all the chalkers, players who lost in the last round? Sorry, easy answer that one - sucked out through the club door into the suffocating Mars atmosphere. Or gone home, one or the other !

The only blond was me, doing the chalking (hey, its not grey its blond). Come on, at least I was part of the final, until I was dramatically substituted by Tony Lee (always likes to make a big entrance somehow !)

So who was the real Arnie, Mike or Frank. 0-1 in legs. 1-1, 1-2, 2-2. This was a Hollywood blockbuster shoot out. 3-2 Game Over

But who won the final? Just who was the real Arnie?
