Sam and Peggy win APDE Singles

Sam Bryant and Peggy Wikaira were the winners of the APDE men's and ladies singles held earlier today at West City Darts Association club rooms, 103 Glen Road, Ranui. There were 80 players entered from as far a field as Hamilton. Sam defeated Brendon Deed in his final 3 to 0 hitting a 21, 20 and 15 darter. He finished the last leg in spectacular fashion hitting a 170 finish. Third equal were Tom Williams and Jimmy Hennah.
Peggy in her final had a much closer game defeating Kit Bennett of Hamilton 3 to 2 in a contest that had both players on a double. Two errant darts left Peggy on 28 with one dart left. She asked the chalker what was left and hit it while Kit waited on 32 a number she had hit with ease starting and finishing in the earlier legs. Third equal were Lorene Earnshaw and Paeru Ngatuakana. Highest starts were for the men John Sinclair, Bevan De Witt, Ken Moir and Fotu Mautana hit 160. For the ladies Vaine Tuitara had a 150 start. 13 x 180's were scored by the men with Sam Bryant and Gary Whyte getting the most with two. The ladies scored 5 x 180's. The highest ladies finish was Jo Kinita with 120. The highest men's finish was Sam Bryant with 170. The video below shows Sam hitting the 170 finish to win the game. It can be seen a little clearer on You Tube under heading Sam Bryant Hits 170. Sam was presented with a new Puma Dartboard by Stephen Holt Club Captain for West City as recognition for the feat.
