Janette Jonathan and Jonathan Silcock Triumph at Auckland Open.

Janette Jonathan won the Auckland Ladies open at the West City Darts Association club rooms, 103 Glen Road, Ranui for the second year in a row yesterday. She defeated Selina Baker Clemas in the final 4 to 3. It should have been a bigger margin because Jannette was well in front and gave Selina the opportunity to come back by missing her doubles. She made no mistake in the deciding leg being well in front. Jannette defeated Rogere Te Whero in her semi final and Selina defeated Lorene Earnshaw in the other semi final. The highest ladies finish was Maria Siavale with 144. There were 36 entries. Two less than last year.
Jonathan Silcock won 4 to 3 against Monty Tuhua in the men's final. It was a final that could have gone either way. Monty had a few missed shots at double in the final leg which could have seen him win. In the earlier rounds he won 4 games in a row by coming from behind with some desperate darts. He never gave up. Brendon Deed lost to Monty in the semi-final and Jonathan defeated Mark Cleaver. Mark faded a bit having played better earlier in the day. Jonathan had the most 180's for the day with 8. There were 76 men entered. Four down on last year.
The consolation men's final was won by Mike Collett and the ladies Jo Steed.
Peter Page, Treasuerer, West City Darts stated ' I would like to thank all the members who worked over the weekend to make the event a success and in particular Girl Kahaki of Counties Manukau and Trixie Erceg of the NZDC who were very helpful with organising of the event. Next year we are going to offer more prize money a staggered start for the men and ladies to give a smoother passage of play and other improvements to make it a better darting experience.'
