Pirate Wins The Ashes

Steve Hanley ' The Pirate' defeated Ken Moir ' The Rabbit' 2 - 0 in the final of the Ashes singles tournament held yesterday evening at the West City Darts Association club rooms, 103 Glen Road, Ranui. Steve won the first leg in 18 darts hitting a 180 and finishing on 64. He won the second leg in 24 darts finishing on 36. Third equal were Monty Tuhua and Brent McLuckie ' The Brat'. There were 37 entries with 21 qualifiers. Highest Score was John Amosa with 177. Highest finishes were Stephen Holt and Lou Williams with 100. 180's were scored by Geoff Koster, Ken Moir, Peggy Wikaira, Rita Wells, Monty Tuhua (3), Marc Skinns and Steve Hanley.

Previous winners have been Neil Walker, Paul Williams (3) and Ken Moir.

Coming events are the Rugby World Cup raffle draw at 7 pm this Saturday at the West City Darts Association club rooms followed by Texas Poker Holdem. A West City Committee meeting at 10 am on Sunday followed by a working bee to to prepare for the APDE singles which is being held at the club rooms on Sunday 4th September,

  1. I think Raewyn does a good job in organising and keeping the play running in tournaments like the 'Ashes', but seems largely unappreciated. Keep up the good work Raewyn cos I am sure there would be very few other volunteeers to do the job
