Special Announcement Auckland versus NZ Match

The New Zealand Dart Council selection panel is to select a team of 4 men and 4 ladies at the conclusion of the NZDC championships to be held in Nelson during August. This team will be known as the NZ team. The NZDC is to assist those players to attend all ranking tournaments in NZ starting with the Auckland Open.

West City Darts Association and the Auckland Region 2 committee have been invited to organise and run an exhibition match between the NZ team and an Auckland Region 2 team of four men and 4 ladies at 7 pm after the conclusion of the Auckland Open on Saturday 17th September 2011 at West City's club rooms in Glen Road, Ranui. The Auckland Region 2 team will be selected by the Region 2 committee. It has not been decided by the Region 2 committee what the rules or criteria for selection will be as yet but will be known in coming weeks.

The format will be the same as the region team format and would be played as 1 leg of 701, best of 64 legs. It should take less than two hours.

Peter Page, treasurer, West City Darts Association says " We are very pleased to get behind this event. It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Auckland Players. We intend to have a special dart shirt made for each member of the Auckland team to commemorate the event. It will have their names embroidered on it with details of the event NZ versus Auckland 2011. We are also intending to provide a cash incentive for the Auckland team should they defeat the NZ team. We will be running a World Cup Rugby draw to raise funds for this. We will be announcing details shortly with tickets hopefully for sale from Thursday".
