National Service Club Pairs and Puma Open results.

Wilson Henry and Toko Hazel won the National Service Club men's pairs yesterday at the National Service club, Market Street, Hastings. After qualifying they were undefeated in both lives. There were 21 men's pairs. Jonathon Silcock scored the first 180.
In the ladies pairs Peggy Wikaira and Veronica Hazel won the final 3 to 1. Peggy had the highest ladies start with 146 and the first 180. 18 ladies pairs took part.
In the men's Puma Open held earlier today at the same venue Willis Fergus defeated Johnathon Silcock in the final. Wilson Henry won the consolation round beating Peter Page 4 to 0. Peter had the highest finish for the day with 137.
In the Ladies Puma Open final Kathy Orbell defeated Peggy Wikaira 6 to 5 in a very close game. In the consolation final Anna Neho defeated Dianne Fergus.
This tournament was a well organised and well run. Very generous prize money of $6000 paid out over the two days. I enjoyed this tournament and would recommend it to anyone. A well established tournament the Club NZ ranking points on offer this year gave the tournament more significance which should see its popularity grow.
