Paddles Says Goodbye

Mark Padley, known as Paddles by all, has been a member of the West City Darts association for the past 4 years. On Sunday 24th April Paddles is leaving New Zealand to go and live in Greece so he can look after his elderly father who is 82 and retired there. Paddles will be missed by all those who know him. There have been several farewell parties for him and on Thursday he will be at the West City club night for the last time. Anyone wishing to wish him all the best is most welcome to come along.

Paddles has been playing darts on and off for ten years in total. He first played in Blenheim whilst he was in the Airforce for the Corsairs dart team in the early 1980's. The highlight of his darting career was winning the Inter-Dominion pairs with Jimmy Hennah when it was played at the Henderson RSA in 2008. Paddles favourite scoring spot is the triple 19. Paddles being shorter than most has to reach on tip toe to pull darts from double 20 so has found triple 19 closer to his height. He hits many 171's in the way some players hit the 180's. His darting tip is "hit the double first".

His new address will be Tolo Nr Naphion, Greece. He still owns a house in Ranui so has kept a foothold here. So who knows when he gets sick of Ouzo and goat cheese maybe he will come back.

Goodbye Paddles we will miss you. Bon Voyage.
